St. John's University Extends Alumni Assistance Program
July 21, 2009
50% Tuition Reduction for Alumni to Include 2009 Fall
Semester
St. John’s University has announced that it will extend the
Alumni Assistance Program, which offers a 50% reduction in tuition
for alumni who have been laid off within the past six months, to
include students entering graduate degree programs in the 2009 fall
semester.
When the program was announced in December 2008, eligibility
included those individuals beginning their studies in the spring or
summer of 2009. The decision to extend the program was made
by the University in response to an increased interest and the
continued economic downturn.
In addition to the 50% tuition reduction, the University’s
Career Center remains available to all alumni. The Career
Center services include one-on-one meetings with a career
counselor, resume writing, job search strategies, networking and
tips on evaluating job offers and salary negotiations.
The Alumni Assistance Program was developed by the University to
aid all alumni who may need assistance during the economic
downturn, by providing an opportunity to further their education
and, in turn, help them to return to the workforce as quickly as
possible.
A Professional Development Workshop for alumni will be offered
on the Queens campus on Tuesday, July 28 at 7 p.m. in Sun Yat Sen
Hall. The session will help alumni retool their resumes,
reacquaint themselves with the job search process, and explore
possibilities for changing careers and beginning graduate
study.
