In Gratitude for Their Many Years of Service

July 13, 2009

With a combined 200 years of teaching experience, St. John’s School of Law bid farewell to six of its endeared faculty members. These professors, who retired at the end of the spring semester, are a gifted, dedicated and loyal group of individuals that further strengthened the legal education we provide our students. Their legacies are forever woven into the fabric of the Law School’s ongoing success.  Dean Michael A. Simons aptly remarked that “We are grateful for their service (as are the thousands of students they taught), and we wish them well in their retirement.”

The six distinguished members of the faculty include:

Charles E. Biblowit, Professor of law, who taught Civil Procedure, Conflict of Laws, and International Business Transactions;

William D. Harrington, Professor of law, who taught Business Organizations, Business Planning, Corporations, Corporate Finance and Securities Regulation;

Margaret N. Kniffin, Professor of law, who taught Contracts, Remedies, and The Legal Process;

Patrick J. Rohan ’56, Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law, who taught Real Property, Trusts & Estates, Land Use Planning, and Condominiums, Cooperatives, and Homeowner Associations;

Linda M. Ryan, Director of the Rittenberg Law Library and Research Professor of Law; and

Philip Weinberg, Professor of Law and Director, Summer Program in Rome and Director, LL.M. Program for Foreign Lawyers in American Law.
