School of Law Lecture Hall Dedicated in Honor of John and Mary Beth Birchby
October 09, 2009
On October
1, University President Rev. Donald J. Harrington, C.M., and Dean
Michael A. Simons thanked John D. ’73 and Mary Beth Birchby for
their generous support in providing the funding needed to renovate
classroom 1-13 in the School of Law. Members of the Birchby
family and the St. John’s community gathered for the dedication and
naming of the lecture hall in honor of Mary Beth and John.
The Birchby Lecture Hall makeover incorporated state-of-the-art
technology, such as a professor’s smart podium to operate lighting,
audio, video, and internet connectivity, as well as, functional and
comfortable furnishings for the students.
Over the
years, John and Mary Beth have been extraordinarily supportive of
St. John’s. In 2003, they established the Kenneth L. Birchby and
John D. Birchby Scholarship Fund which is awarded to several law
students each year.
