Management Lawyers’ Colloquium - School of Law Alumni Discuss Careers and Issues in Labor and Employment Law
November 05, 2009
The
St. John’s University School of Law
Labor Relations and Employment Law Society and the Office
of Career Services sponsored the 13th Annual Management
Lawyers’ Colloquium on September 21, 2009. The Colloquium was
moderated by
Professor David Gregory, the faculty advisor to the St. John’s
Labor Relations and Employment Law Society since 1982, and it
featured several St. John’s Law School alumni currently working in
management-side labor and employment law. These distinguished
attorneys traced their professional journeys as labor and
employment lawyers from their days as St. John’s students to their
present positions. Each provided students with their
invaluable advice on networking, interviewing, coursework, and
labor and employment law advocacy.
Jackson Lewis LLP, a nation-wide law firm representing
management in labor and employment law issues, sponsors a partial
tuition merit scholarship in honor of Alan Becker, a Jackson Lewis
partner of beloved memory who distinguished himself for his
excellence as a labor and employment lawyer and for his selfless
commitment to his colleagues. Established in 2006, the $5000
scholarship has been awarded to a St. John’s law student each year,
and was presented this year to second year student Lauren Stulmaker
at the close of the event.
Many law students attended the event, as well as other labor and
employment lawyers, who with the distinguished speakers spoke with
the students for several hours after the scholarship
presentation.
