Queens Campus to Hold Emergency Response Exercise

St. John’s University’s Department of Public Safety and the New York City Fire Department will be conducting an emergency response exercise at the University’s Queens campus on Saturday, August 1, 2009 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The exercise will simulate a fire and chemical spill in St. Albert Hall.

The Office of Emergency Management, the New York City Police and Fire Departments, Emergency Medical Services and St. John’s Department of Public Safety are participating in the exercise as first responders. You may see these groups and their vehicles near St. Albert Hall.

Before the exercise begins, Public Safety will post signs, both inside and outside St. Albert Hall, informing the University community of the exercise. Public Safety will then ask anyone remaining in St. Albert Hall to evacuate the building for the duration of the exercise.

During the exercise, you will still be able to reach Public Safety and report incidents at the Queens campus by phoning ext. 5252 on campus or (718) 990-5252 if you are off campus.
