Members of the Central Connecticut Alumni Chapter attended the
St. John’s University men’s basketball game against the University
of Connecticut in Storrs, CT on January 8, 2008. Alumni also
gathered prior to the game for an intimate reception at the Nathan
Hale Inn on the University of Connecticut campus.
University representatives, William Schaeffer ’73CBA, director
of alumni relations, Brian Colleary, senior associate athletic
director/external affairs, and Rev. Kevin Creagh, C.M. ’91SVC,
’04PD, assistant vice president, branch campuses and assistant to
the vice president, institutional advancement, were in attendance
to welcome alumni and share University news including student
population growth, new building projects and upcoming alumni
events.
The group was in good spirits and enjoyed the “family”
atmosphere of the reception and game. “It was great to meet
old acquaintances and reminisce about the old days at St. John’s,”
shared Nat Calamis ’72SVC, who traveled from Rhode Island to attend
the reception and game. “I love to see St. John’s alumni
maintaining their relationship with the University,” commented
Schaeffer, “especially by attending a reception and great game with
a long-time rival!”
