Tillet Hall on the campus of Rutgers University was the scene
for an intimate gathering of St. John’s alumni and friends on
Wednesday, February 6, 2008. A pre-game reception was held there
before the men’s basketball team took on Rutgers University.
The group, made up of members of the Northern and Central New
Jersey Alumni Chapters, gathered for food and drinks and discussed
basketball and the many happenings at St. John’s. The alumni in
attendance are loyal supporters and appreciate the opportunity to
attend such receptions. “It was a wonderful event and great to see
alumni and have the opportunity to share stories about St John’s,”
said Jim Sheerin ’65Ed. “St. John’s gave us so much and it is our
opportunity to support the University.”
The evening continued with more story-telling and
reminiscing. Central New Jersey Chapter Coordinator Mike Brill
’79CBA noted that it was “another great event.” “It is good to get
together with great friends and fellow alumni and have conversation
to see how everyone is doing,” he said. Bill Lipson, Assistant
Director of Alumni Relations, thanked everyone for coming and
handed out free St John’s shirts and hats. The good times continued
on as the group cheered the Red Storm team onto a 52-45 victory
over Rutgers. The Office of Alumni Relations hosts a variety of
pre-game receptions throughout the men’s basketball season.
