Softball: Utah And Cal Top St. John’s At Hawai’i Spring Fling

HONULULU, Hawai’i (March 13, 2009) – The St. John’s softball team (8-8) took on the Utah Utes and No. 9/11 California Golden Bears in the third day of the Hawai’i Spring Fling. In the first game of the day, sophomore pitcher Linzee Sumrall set a new career-high in strikeouts with 16, but it was not enough as the Utes topped St. John’s, 2-1. Versus nationally-ranked Cal, STJ jumped out to an early lead but were outscored, 6-2.
