  St. John’s Debate Society Competes in World Debate Championships in Ireland 9:00 AM Four St. John’s University Debate Society members became the first representatives of St. John’s to participate in the World University Debate Championships over the winter intersession.

• Budding Artists Translate Founder’s Week Theme into Visual Art Projects 9:00 AM As in years past, students enrolled in Fine Arts Professor Joseph Adolphe’s “Anatomy & Figure Drawing I” course have again been challenged to translate St. John’s University’s Founder’s Week theme into visual art projects. The students, including both art and non-art majors, spent 6-8 weeks and more than 100 hours apiece creating their interpretations, which are now on exhibit in St. Augustine Library on the University’s Queens campus.

Case, President & CEO of Aon Corporation, Receives 2008 Insurance Leader of the Year Award a at St. John's Annual Gala 9:00 AM St. John’s School of Risk Management (SRM), a part of the University’s Peter J. Tobin College of Business, feted Gregory C. Case, President & CEO of Aon Corporation, as the “2008 Insurance Leader of the Year” at its 14th Annual Award Dinner held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

• Founder’s Week Opening Mass 9:00 AM On a chilly winter afternoon, the St. John’s University community gathered at St. Thomas More Church on January 26 for the Founder’s Week opening mass and student recognition awards

• Pondering St. Paul 11:00 AM During this spring semester, three new talks on Paul will be offered. Fr. Patrick J. Griffin, C.M., the Executive Vice President for Mission and Branch Campuses, will again present these lectures.

• Chartwells Is Taking Action to Prevent Contaminated Peanut Products Being Offered at St. John's 11:30 AM Chartwells and its parent company Compass Group have been monitoring the peanut butter recall and are taking action to ensure that salmonella-contaminated food products are not sold at St. John’s.
