LL.M. in Bankruptcy Program Honors Professor Richard Lieb

More than 100 friends, family and colleagues gathered at the Harvard Club to honor Professor Richard Lieb at an elegant reception hosted by the St. John’s Law LL.M. in Bankruptcy Program on February 4, 2009. The event was a tremendous success and in addition to paying tribute to Professor Lieb, it raised a substantial sum that will be used to establish an endowed scholarship in his honor.

During Tax Season, Tobin College of Business Students Are Securing Tax Refunds for Bread and Life Clients

Spearheaded by Assistant Professor Nina Dorata Ph.D, in the Department of Accounting and Taxation at The Tobin College of Business, the Bread and Life program enlists the St. John’s students to assist clients with their tax returns during the January-April tax season.

St. John’s Continues Partnership with National Grid Foundation in “Hoops for the Stars” Program

During the 2008-09 men’s basketball season, more than 2,400 middle school students and their guardians have attended St. John’s basketball games as part of the National Grid Foundation’s “Hoops for the Stars” program. On Tuesday, Feb. 24, when the St. John’s men’s basketball team took on Syracuse, both universities recognized 20 outstanding middle school students through the Hoops for the Stars program.

St. John’s Makes Study Abroad More Affordable than Ever! Reduction in Tuition for Programs This Summer

Just register for six credits in any Global Studies program, for example Paris or Rome, and St. John’s will automatically deduct $1,000 off tuition. In addition, in an effort to keep summer programs affordable, the University is keeping this year’s program fees the same as last year’s.

St. John’s Professor Llano Conducts Debate Seminar at Howard University

Over the February 21-22 weekend, Assistant Professor and Director of Debate Steve Llano conducted a debate seminar and workshop at Howard University in Washington, DC. Professor Llano was invited to Howard to help students in The Martin Luther King, Jr. Forensics Society improve their argumentation and debate skills in preparation for an upcoming public debate with Yale University.
