  The School of Education Hosts Bullying Forum on Staten Island Campus 9:00 AM On Thursday, March 12, The School of Education partnered with the local parent, teacher and administrative organization on Staten Island, 31 I.D.E.A.L. (Information Dealing With Education and Learning) to sponsor its annual spring Education Forum focusing on one of the more volatile issues affecting children, "Bullying, Both Real and Virtual."

• "Paint the Campus Purple Week" in Support of Fourth Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life 9:00 AM The Relay for Life Planning Committee has designated the week of March 16 - 20 as "Paint the Campus Purple Week." Purple is the color of HOPE and the Relay for Life is an event that inspires hope in all who are struggling with the devastating effects of cancer. The committee will be hosting a variety of events aimed at increasing cancer awareness and involvement of the University community.

• Academic Lecture Series: Protect the Environment - Queens Campus 9:00 AM David Helvarg is the author of Blue Frontier - Saving America's Living Seas, Blue Frontier - Dispatches from America’s Ocean Wilderness, 50 Ways to Save the Ocean and The War Against the Greens, as well as an award winning investigative journalist, TV documentary producer and public radio commentator.

• St. John’s University Pride Shines on St. Patrick’s Day 9:00 AM Tuesday, March 17 was a great day for the Irish and the Irish at heart as more than 150 St. John’s University alumni, students, faculty and staff jauntily marched down Fifth Avenue as part of New York’s 248th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

• Help Restore New York State Student Financial Aid Funding 9:00 AM The Office of Government Relations in cooperation with the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities asks that the entire University Community (students, faculty, administrators and staff) contact their respective members of the NYS Legislature (NYS Assembly and NYS Senate) and remind them that in a difficult economy any budget cuts to student financial aid will negatively impact students at St. John’s University.

• St. John’s Students Meet New York City Mayor 9:00 AM The students met Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg while touring City Hall as part of a leadership-building component of Discover New York – a unique freshman course at St. John’s University that uses New York City as a living classroom to explore the arts, business, history and culture.
