Literary Studies Professor Explores How Pain and Emotion Impacts Language in Upcoming Book

Jennifer Travis, Ph.D. is intrigued by the concept of emotion and pain in 19th century American literature. As an author and educator, she continues to explore the concept of injury in literature. During a recent appointed fellowship to the University of Connecticut, the Literature Professor gained insight into her upcoming book, The Call to Harms: Injury & Cultural Authority in the US.

Awards Reception Honors College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions Students

Honoring the academic achievements of its students, St. John’s College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions held its annual Student Awards Reception on May 13, 2009. The event, which opened with a prayer offered by Sr. Patty Ann O’Brien, D.C., Campus Minister, included the presentation of a total of 78 awards and scholarships to students.

St. John’s Reduces Carbon Footprint with Purchase of New Public Safety Hybrid Vehicles

St. John’s University students and administrators recently gathered on the Queens campus’ Great Lawn to introduce 10 new hybrid vehicles acquired as a part of the University’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint. As a participant in New York City’s “Mayoral Challenge for Climate Change for 30 in 10,” St. John’s has committed to reduce its carbon emissions released into the atmosphere by 30 percent even before the year 2017.
