  New Students Get Oriented to St. John’s and Service 9:00 AM When a new St. John’s University student steps on campus for the first time, the University instills in that student its mission of charity and service to the disadvantaged and underserved. In addition to explaining the benefits and rewards of community service to new students, the University gives them the chance to make an impact of their own during New Student Orientation.

• Students Break Ground for St. John’s University’s Latest Sustainability Project: a Student-Run Organic Garden 9:00 AM Students at St. John’s University recently broke ground on the Queens campus for a student community organic garden. The carefully planned 34 x 54 ft. site is the latest Sustainability project at St. John’s and represents another step in the University’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions released into the atmosphere.

• St. John’s to Host 11th Annual “Breezy Big Band” Great Lawn Summer Concert in Queens 7:00 PM St. John’s Office of Community Relations presents “Breezy Big Band Summer” as part of its annual concert series highlighting the Queens Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday, July 29 at 7:00 p.m. on the University’s Great Lawn at its Queens campus.
