  Astronaut to Discuss the Fatal Space Shuttle Columbia Accident - Lessons Learned? 9:00 AM All members of the St. John’s community are invited to hear Charles Camarda, Ph.D., astronaut, researcher and engineer, speak about the fatal Space Shuttle Columbia accident and the behavioral causes found to be significant by the Columbia Accident Investigation Board.

• Vincentian Mission Award 9:00 AM In 1993 the University established the Vincentian Mission Award in order to recognize the dedication of the many St. John's employees - administrators, faculty, and staff - who have embraced the Vincentian spirit which animates our University in their personal as well as their professional lives.

• More Choices Spark Rising Student and Faculty Interest in St. John’s Dynamic Study Abroad Programs 9:00 AM Record numbers of students are enrolling in St. John’s dynamic global studies programs this semester, reflecting students’ growing awareness of the impact their study abroad experience will have on their success in an increasingly international workplace.

• Relocation of Academic Service-Learning 9:00 AM Currently, the Office of Academic Service-Learning, now located in the newly renovated Lourdes Hall, finds itself at an exciting crossroads as the office transitions to the Vincentian Institute for Social Action (VISA).

• Special Discounted Rate Tickets - 12th Annual President’s Dinner 9:00 AM A special discounted rate of $250 per person is available to all St. John’s full-time faculty, administrators and staff, up to a maximum of two tickets per person. Once again, we will be providing round trip bus service from the Queens and Staten Island campuses to and from The Waldorf=Astoria on the evening of October 29 .

• First Annual Securities Dispute Resolution Triathlon Held at St. John’s School of Law 9:00 AM The Hugh L. Carey Center for Dispute Resolution of St. John’s University Law School and the Financial Industry Regulator Authority (FINRA) co-hosted the first annual Securities Dispute Resolution on October 17-18, 2009 at St. John’s University Manhattan Campus.

• St. John’s Center for Psychological Services Receives Second Grant for Its Military Services Initiative. 9:00 AM An innovative support program for servicemen and women and their families offered at St. John’s University’s Center for Psychological Services has again received a grant from the New York State Office of Mental Health.

• College of Pharmacy Teams with Talyst Inc. to Provide Students with Newest Pharmacy Dispensing Technology 11:30 AM St. John’s College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions became one of the first Colleges of Pharmacy in the United States to partner with medication management company Talyst, Inc., during a special recognition ceremony to thank the corporation for their generosity in donating state-of-the-art medical equipment to the University.
